mac closed to the public on April 6th 2008 so that work on the mac and sampad's £14.8million building project could begin. A small team remain behind to work towards the re-opening in autumn 2009, when we look forward to welcoming you back to a refurbished building with better facilities, more exhibition spaces, an extra rehearsal and performance space, an improved main house theatre and improved access for everyone.
Jointly funded by Arts Council England, Birmingham City Council and a mac and sampad fundraising campaign, the development will dramatically improve and update the arts centre, creating a more effective and efficient arts centre.
Through this website, you will be able to keep up to date with all of the developments regarding the building project as they happen, and as we move towards 2009, here is where you will find details of our 'curtain raising ' events in and around Cannon Hill Park in summer 2009, and our dynamic launch season of events, exhibitions and courses in autumn 2009.
And you can find out more about sampad's work by clicking onto their website at www.sampad.org.uk.

That's why we're investing in a £14.8m refurbishment. If you love mac as much as we love you, please help by supporting our Appeal.
